BroccoliBronco: I was recommended by a doctor. Tell us about the experience - was it positive or negative? BroccoliBronco: Decision Point provided me with one of the worst experiences of my life. The staff, with only a few exceptions, were resentful, manipulative ex-addicts whose main agenda was destroying any self-esteem or confidence they detected in a patient. While claiming to have a holistic approach and a developed trauma program, Decision Point tends to refer only to the twelve-step doctrine, ignoring the patient's trauma history or any other theories and practices helpful in recovery. One would be far better off spending $10 on the Big Book and investing the remaining $1,390.00 in swamplands. Confidential information is echoed throughout the halls, and the medical staff couldn't tell you the difference between tylenol and a cough drop. There is no consistency as far as communication, and 3/4's of the program is spent sitting in various chairs waiting for who knows what. Most importantly, Decision Point lacks a therapeutic value system. The patient's well-being is secondary to the Center's ego structure...and decisions are made that result in a lot of emotional damage to the patient. Despite all of the lies, a select few members of the team really do excel in their field. However, the patient/therapist ratio makes meaningful interaction with these individuals a scarcity. To sum it all up, the best Decision at this Point would be to find a different Center. Do you feel the program was successful? BroccoliBronco: Not at all. What advice would you give somebody considering going to this facility? BroccoliBronco: Don't. |
